Little Cutie

So as a bragging mother, I need to show off my beautiful daughter. When I got this picture from my Father-in-law, I knew I needed to scrap it. This photo is from Christmas, but it just seemed more appropriate to scrap it with the Sunny Day kit. I also used MDS (My Digital Studio) in case you can't tell. This kit is soooooo cute and girly. I based this page on one I did quite a while back for my son.

Another Fun Swap

I'm excited to be taking part in a swap on Stampin' Connection. What's Stampin' Connection you might ask - well it's kinda like Facebook for Stampin' Up! demonstrators. It's only been up and running for a few weeks but it's been running like wildfire. Judging from samples that people have put I knew that my swap needed to be something great. Stampin Royalty Challenge #4

Here's another challenge from Stampin' Royalty and this week we had a fun sketch challenge. I made two cards for this sketch and I had a hard time choosing one for the Stampin' Royalty Webpage. The top card was put up there, but scroll down to find the other one I created.

SPCC #32

This card was whipped up quick and easy. I love Basic Grey and this type of layout makes the background colour the focus of the card. The stamp is from the new Sale-a-bration 2010 catalogue. I punched out the oval with the wide oval punch and then I adhered it to Creamy Caramel cardstock and very carefully cut it out.

This adorable waterfall card is a swap I received. It was made by Myra Webb. This crazy lady made 21 of these intricate swaps. It must have taken her forever. They are simply fabulous. I have tons of cards to share with you over the coming weeks. I'll try to spread them out a bit. All of them are fabulous. This stamp set is so perfect for this kind of card. It's called My Matryoshka and it's available now in the new Occasions Mini.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #3

Another Wednesday and you know what that means????? Another Challenge over at Stampin' Royalty. Well I had a tough time with this one. I wanted it to be fabulous, and having seen what the other Goddess' had come up with, I felt completely intimidated by the talent on our design team. So I tried a new technique in order to spice things up.
I decided to try the dry embossing technique that has a smooth space in the middle. You get this look from using an embossing folder of course, but then you replace one of the clear cutting pads with a photo matte from the dollar store. This one was for an oval photo. Please check out this tutorial on Patty Bennett's Blog here. I traced the mat and made a mask which I used to create the outside of the oval. I traced it onto post it notes to get the perfect oval shape - The inside oval was made with the wide oval punch and a few post it notes as well. Next I used more post it notes to cover parts of the remaining donut shape and then I used a sponge to fill in the areas. This technique is called retifit. I also used the smaller stamps from the new set Totally Tess. Each section has a different stamp featured. Once I was done, I pulled all the post it notes off and stamped the sentiment in the middle.
Below you will find my first attempt at this card. I stamped it all and then embossed it for texture, but I felt that the texture wasn't featured as well on this example, so I made the one above. Plus I'm not terribly thrilled about my watercolouring on ol' Tess there, so I took her out of the card above.

SPCC #31

Time for another SPCC challenge. This card features the new stamp set My Matryoshka. You can find it in the new Occasions Mini Catalogue. This combo seems so bright and reminds me of springtime so I knew that flowers were somthing I wanted to feature on the card. But there is no green in this combo so I snuck a bit of Mellow Moss in on the leaves. The technique I used was dipping an Aquapainter in ink and 'watercolouring' the ink on the paper. I also didn't have Apricot Appeal ribbon so I used a piece of Very Vanilla ribbon and dragged it over the Apricot Appeal stamp pad.

Vintage Label Swap

Recently I took part in a Stampin' Up! demonstrator only swap, organized by Marie Kirkwood, another demo who lives here on the North Shore. In case it isn't too obvious, that's the 'shore in my blog title. Well, anyway, this is my entry into the swap.

This swap was specifically designed for demonstrators so that we could prepare our samples for upcoming classes. We used sets from the Occasions Mini and the Sale-a-bration Catty. We were able to order from these catalogues a month before the general public, so there was plenty of time to prepare. Let me tell you, the swaps I have received are FAB-U-LOUS. And I can't wait to share them over the upcoming weeks with you.

Anyway, back to my swap. I used textured chocolate chip cardstock. Why textured for a swap??? Because I had TONS of it. As a demo we have the opportunity to buy in bulk occasionally and I happened to get a ton of Chocolate Chip Textured cardstock this way.

First I stamped the medalion stamp in chocolate chip for a tone-on-tone textured look. Then I attached some DSP (from Tea Party) and then ran a strip of Satin Organza ribbon down the middle of it.

I used a lot of different punches in this swap. The sentiment was stamped with the Vintage Label set (from SAB). All the labels from this set fit perfectly into various SU punches - totally cool!. So I punched it out with the scallop circle punch, and then punched out some pixie pink cardstock with the a 1 3/4" circle punch - the largest circle punch SU sells. I layered them together so that the pink kinda peeks through the scallops on the circle. Then it was popped up on dimensionals.

I used the Boho Blossoms punch to punch out more chocolate chip. The smalled flower was attached to the butterfly (from the Big Beautiful Butterfly Die for the Big Shot) I punched two holes with the paper piercing tool and put small silver brads through them.Then I sponged some Chocolate chip around the edge. and popped it up on dimensionals.

In the lower RH corner I attached a piece of pixie pink cardstock punched out with the 1" circle punch. Then I punched out the pink flower with the boho blossoms punch from the tea party DSP. I then attached the middle flower from the boho blossoms punch outs from the Chocolate Chip. I placed the 2 together and then punched two holes with the paper piercing tool like before. This time I threaded some linen thread through the holes and tied a knot. Kind of how you would thread a button. Then I popped this up on dimensionals on top of the pink circle. and Le Voila!

Design Dollies Colour Challenge

I'm not sure why, but this colour challenge really appealed to me. Fuscia and light Yellow are the colours. For this challenge I used a variety of SU DSP, stamps, punches, and the Petal Party Simply Scrappin' Kit. I used the ornament punch and punched out 4 shapes and then positioned them together to make this interesting matte. The small leaves were cut out of the DSP and the large ones (as well as the flowers) were stamped and carefully cut out.

I found this card in my stash. I made it a few years ago. It's one of my first SU cards. So the paper was from my stash and the background stamp is not from SU (but I can't figure out where it comes from) The ribbon and brad are from the dollar store.

SPCC #30

Time for another SPCC colour challenge. Wow was this one a challenge. I made several different cards until I came up with this one. This card was made on MDS (My Digital Studio) and then printed out twice and pieced together. Basically it's a hybrid. First I printed out the card twice and then I cut out the cupcake from one card and layered it on top of the other card front. The only problem was that the cupcake top didn't look right. So I traced it on a piece of Orange paper from the new Sweet Pea DSP from the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalogue. The Recipe:

Sitting with Santa

I know its' not Christmas anymore, but now it's time to scrapbook all my photos. As you probably noticed earlier this week, I really don't have very many great photos from Christmas. But this one is the traditional photo with Santa. My daughter was too scared to sit on Santa's knee, but she's so proud that she sat on the stool beside him. Most of the embellishments on this page came from the 'I Wish' Simply Scrappin kit which is now retired. But the paper is from Christmas Cocoa DSP, and the Real red paper around the photo was punched with the Scallop Trim punch which is available in the current Sale-a-bration catty. The Chocolate Chip ribbon is from the Clearance Rack from SU. It's from a few years ago and I'm so glad I was able to buy some more recently.

In a Mojo'ing Mood

I've been in a Mojo'ing mood lately. 2 Mojo cards in one week is a bit amazing for me. This card was lots of fun to make. Most of the products are Stampin' Up! The scallop oval is from Nestabilities and I used the die as a stencil and sponged the Bermuda Bay paper with Rich Razzleberry Ink.

SPCC 29

Time for another SPCC color challenge. I had so much fun making this card. I was absolutely thrilled to receive my sneak peek order from the new Occasions mini and Sale-a-bration catalogues. (Available tomorrow!!!) And combining them with this 4 colour challenge from SPCC was lots of fun! I found that the Melon Mambo and the Rose Red went together very easily. In fact I have already done that with a card this month. Check out this post here. But anyway, Lavender Lace and Brilliant Blue were a bit of a challenge. Then I found this card here from the fabulous Jank Tink, and I was inspired to CASE it. I had to add my new Scallop Trim Border punch, and my new Sweet Pea Stitched Felt. I am in LOVE with the new Occasions mini. In order to stick to the colors of the combo I added a circle of Brilliant Blue behind the small circular flower, and I traced the Old Olive leaves from the Sweet Pea Felt on Chocolate Chip, and I used my white Signo Pen to simulate the white stitching. The only colour I added to this combo beside white was Chocolate Chip.

Happy New Year

I've been busy scrapbooking my Christmas photos with MDS. This page was created because I just did NOT get any good photos of the kids on Christmas Morning. It turns out that I also had the camera on the wrong setting and the photos I did take were overexposed. So I did my best with photo editing software and MDS and this is what I came up with. I always think that if you don't have any great photos of an event, then make a collage to create the impression of the day. These photos were placed and cropped using a template in MDs. I added a few embellishments and text in the brown box and put a drop shadow under the photos.
