Today is the 50th birthday of a good friend.

His wife is throwing a surprise party for him tonight.

I wanted to try out this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

I used some old Build-a-Brads to come up with the number "50".

 

I made this little birthday medallion with my scorpal and a scallop edge punch.

Here's a little card that I put together for this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

That cute little Birthday sentiment is made right here in Vancouver by Dee's Distinctively: A Cut Above.  

I used the same cute paper and stickers from Bo Bunny's Key Lime line.  Then I used various retired buttons and brad's from Stampin' Up! and Basic Grey to finish up the card.

I really like the combination of rusty red with dark teal.  I'm ususally not an Earth tones kind of gal, but this paper definitely drew me in.

So I just got this adorable "winter wonderland" kit from My Mind's Eye.

I pulled it out to make this cute card for this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

So here it is.  I LOVE that cute snowman.

Mojo Monday #300 Take Two

Not sure how I feel about the cantaloupe colour, but I really like the rest of it.

This week it is the 300th sketch over at Mojo Monday.  I thought I'd try my hand at this sketch.  I have been playing with Mojo Monday for many years.  I liked this sketch so much that I have made a few cards with it that I'll post over the next few days.

Mojo Monday Challenge #209

For this week's Mojo Monday challenge, I decided to CASE a card made by Elizabeth Price.  Click here for her original card.  I really like all the various elements on her card.  So I copied many of them and added a few to create my card. 

This card is a hybrid card.  I used My Digital Studio.  Below is a copy of the image I created and printed out to make the card.  I printed it twice, once on Crumb Cake, and once on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then I punched, and cut, and trimmed, and distressed, and poped up, and came up with this card. I also added some First Edition, and Beau Chateau DSP.

Mojo Birthday

This is a hybrid card created with My Digital Studio.  I absolutely love this new patterned paper Spice Cake, but my pre-order from the Holiday Mini, has not arrived yet.  So I decided to try my luck with MDS, and mocked up a version of this card.  Then I printed it out in pieces and put it together. I love, love, love this paper, especially how it features Pool Party.  The scallop around the circle was very easy to make.  First I punched out a strip with the Dotted Scallop border punch and then I ran it through the crimper.  Then I pinched and tucked it to make the border of the large circle.  I should explain that this card is made for my Brother-in-Law's birthday which is coming up this weekend and he's a huge motorcycle fanatic, so I knew I needed to add the bike image so he wouldn't find this card too 'girly'.

I finally had time to sit down and play with my new toys from Stampin' Up! I decided to try them out on the latest Mojo Monday sketch. I took my new Botanical Gazette patterned paper and ran it through the big shot with the latest Framed Tulips textured impressions embossing folder. Next I sanded it down to reveal the white inner of the paper. Then I used my distressing tools to rough up the edges. I trimmed down another page of the same patterned paper and stamped it with the Thanks sentiment and then sponged the edges with Early Espresso. The ribbon is the new Seam Binding Ribbon in Crumb Cake, and the leaves were punched out of Old Olive cardstock with the two step bird punch. The flower was made using the new Build a Blossom stamp set and Blossom Petals Punch. I sponged the edges of the flowers for more dimension. Finally I added a few Basic Pearls to finish off the sketch. This card was really fun to make.

Oh Yeah, Mojo Monday

Well, technically it's Tuesday and my first day back at work after 9 weeks off - I'm not expecting any sympathy here. :) Anyway, I decided to try my hand at this week's Mojo Sketch. This is the first week of the month so it's the Contest week where you could actually win a prize, but the competition is stiff. I had so much trouble getting this card started that I finally decided to create a digital card using My Digital Studio. The images were free, and from the web, but I cannot find the source. (which is really irritating because I like to credit the creators). I'm going to try to keep sourcing and if I find the creators, I'll link them here.

Mojo Birthday

This card was made for the sketch at Mojo Monday and the challenge over at Party Time Tuesday which is to make a birthday card for a child. This card was made using most of the latest In Colors. I took the Blush Blossom out of the mix as I wanted this card to be bright and bold for a child's birthday. I gave the card a topsy turvy look to make it more fun. Most things were popped up on dimensionals for more interest.

This card is for the sketch challenge over at Mojo Monday this week. I have been staring at my new Greenhouse Gala paper for a month now and finally was inspired to pull it out to make this card. This card is inspired by this card made by Andrea Walford. The base of the card is Chocolate Chip. I ran the cardstock through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impression Folder.

Mojo Monday Sketch #142

This is a card I put together for this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge. This card is a big stretch for me. I tried a vintage look on this card for a change. Most of the embellishments came from a Vintage Essentials kit from Making Memories. I layered it on paper from Karen Neuenberger and cardstock from Stampin' Up. I used the scallop oval nestabillities for the oval frame and every thing was sponged to age it. I roughed up the edges of the Kraft cardstock and popped up a few things on dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Tiny Tags stamp set and punched out with the tiny tag punch.

In a Mojo'ing Mood

I've been in a Mojo'ing mood lately. 2 Mojo cards in one week is a bit amazing for me. This card was lots of fun to make. Most of the products are Stampin' Up! The scallop oval is from Nestabilities and I used the die as a stencil and sponged the Bermuda Bay paper with Rich Razzleberry Ink.

Mojo Birthday

This is my second post today so please scroll down for more.
It's been a while since I did a Mojo Monday challenge. I used this weeks sketch to make this birthday card for my nephew. This nephew love trains (especially Thomas the Tank Engine) so Choo Choo seemed the perfect stamp set to use. The bottom view shows you the sentiment in the card and all the layers that were popped up to give this card some depth. This card was inspired by a card made by the fabulous Jenn Picard.
