Awash For Mother's Day

This card was originaly made for last week's Color Q challenge. But when I went to take a photo of it, my camera died. I finally was able to take a picture with my Dad's camera (thanks Dad!) The colours don't show up properly as I'm learning how to use the settings on his camera. Believe it or not the colours are Bravo Burgundy, Tangerine Tango, Yoyo Yellow, Green Galore, and Whisper White. Of course the stamp set is Awash with Flowers (and well scripted).

4th bday

This page started as a premade layout from My Digital Studio. I changed the background paper to this Old Olive page from the Sweet Pea Designer Paper. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this paper.
I know these photos aren't the best, so I thought that putting a series of them together would show how excited the kids were about making their own pizzas

Stampin Royalty Challenge #17

This week's challenge over at Stampin' Royalty is to 'use your punches'. I was completely inspired by a swap I received from Heather Nedig in the recent DSP swap that I participated in. Please scroll down to the bottom of this post to see her card. On my card above the paper was from the Welcome Neighbour DSP pack from Saleabration. I punched it out with the large oval punch from SU. I sponged the edges of each oval to give the flowers some dimension. The bottom of each tulip was made by first punching out with the 5 petal flower punch and then taking the punched out shape and putting it in the 1 1/4inch circle punch. This gives the rounded bottom to the flowers. The whole thing was mounted on Confetti White cardstock. The bow was made with Crushed Curry polka dot grosgrain ribbon tied with linen thread. Then I added the button and the tag. The tag is from the Tiny Tag punch, and the sentiment is from the Tiny Tags stamp set. I used the Ticket corner punch on the corners and mounted the whole thing on Regal Rose Cardstock.

Just Hanging With MDS

My daughter is such a water baby. She loves the water and wants to learn to swim desperately. Shes taking lessons now (but that's another page to scrap) Here she is floating around the pool with her water wings and floaty ring in order to do it "by myself" (that's a quote from Teagan herself). Dont' worry, daddy is just out of the frame of the photo within arms reach. I used the designer kit Sunny Day, I figured it was appropriate considering the photos. I try to pull colours out of the photo for my paper. What I really like about digital scrapbooking is the ability to write and 'stamp' in white on dark. And I love writing on the photos themselves.

Foxy Lions

These 2 cards were cased from one I received as a swap. I really like the way the white makes the images pop. The lion is from the Fox and Friends stamp set and the sentiment is from Look Who's Turning... The colours on the top card are Melon Mambo and Rose Red. The colours on the bottom are Crushed Curry and So Saffron. The glitter was applied using a two-way glue pen.

aaaaaaarrrrrggghhhh

Just a quick post today. My camera died yesterday. One moment it was working and then suddenly it turned off and wouldn't turn back on. We've been thinking about getting an SLR (fancy digital camera) but we weren't planning to get one for a few more months. So now we have a dillema. I'm going to try to borrow a camera from my Mom for a week or two so that we can decide what we're doing about the camera. I'm going to concentrate on digital scrapping for the next little while.

Party Time with MDS

I made this page for my daughter. This was at last week's birthday party. Poor Teagan is the only girl in the family. The party had 7 boys and Teagan - all under 5 years old. So to give her something she would like, I bought this party hat kit for her (at the dollar store - yay) and a race car kit for the boys. This page is a digital page made using My Digital Studio.

Awashing with flowers

My new order finally arrived today!!! I am so thrilled to try out the new Awash With Flowers set. I decided to follow the challenge over at Color Throwdown. Whenever I see purple and green together I know that I need to participate. This is my favourite colour combo. This time I used the colours in the challenge, but decidced that there was something lacking in my layout, so I decided to add Barely Banana just to give it some punch. I am going to miss these colours. Thankfully my refills on paper and ink just arrived today. :)

Pizza and a Party

This past weekend was Connor's 4th Birthday. We celebrated at a local pizza place that lets the children make their own pizza and watch it bake in the clay oven. This page shows Connor - in red- and one of his cousins and another of his friends enjoying the activity. This page was made with MDS and I used the premade pages from the Happy Birthday kit and changed the background paper and added a few extra embellishments to finish up the page.

Bountiful Butterflies

I made this card for the current challenge over at Our Creative Corner. This card was cased from one I found on Stampin' Connection. But I can't find it to cite the source of this lovely design. I used the Beautiful Butterflies Embosslit and the Scallop Trim Border punches. The DSP is Cottage Wall. The colours are Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, and Bermuda Bay.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #16

This week it's a sketch challenge over at Stampin' Royalty. This card was inspired by a card that I came up with last week. I played around with the circles in the Circle Circus stamp set and cut and layered and had a lot of fun. I really liked the original card, and so I decided to try to use those circles when using the sketch below. The colours are Bermuda Bay, Lavender Lace, and Almost Amethyst. I used the 1" circle punch, the 1 1/4" circle punch, the scallop circle punch, the word window punch and the modern label punch. The Top Note die for the Big shot made the large frame. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. Everything was popped up on layers of dimensionals.

An announcement

Just a quick post today to let all of you know that I have been asked to join the design team at Practical Scrappers. I'm totally excited. This fantastic challenge blog focuses on using up the supplies you already have on hand. So I'm looking forward to digging out my retired Stampin' Up! stuff and showcasing it in my samples. Don't worry, I'm still completely devoted to Stampin' Royalty and hope that all of you will continue to try both challenges.

Colour Flowers 411

I cased this card from the wonderful Ann Schach. Click here for a link to her blog. I changed up the colours to the ones for the Stamping 411 challenge this week. I also added butterflies to enter this week's challenge at OCC. This week the challenge is 'butterflies' The DSP is from the Sweet Pea DSP paper pack. The punches used are the Boho Blossom, Scallop Circle, Corner Rounder, and Bird punch from the current Occasions Mini. I also used the Best Wishes and More stamp set.

Connor Turns 4

I know I've been slow at posting these days but as you all know, life can get in the way sometimes. Today is Connor's fourth birthday. I know Mom's always say this, but they grow up too fast!! I can't believe it. I used the Pirate Party pack from Stampin' Up! to accessorize. It was tons of fun to put all these things together. Connor and I punched out all the pieces and then I helped him assemble the eye patches. I cut all the sharp points off of the toothpicks on the pirate flags and put the treasure chests together. In the treasure chests we put the eye patches, one flag, some candy, a pirate balloon, and some pirate tattoos. We had his party at a local restaurant that lets the kids assemble their own pizza and has a play kitchen area for toddlers. It was so relaxing as the kids were well behaved, the restaurant was pretty empty and I didn't have to clean my house for the party!!

Sweet Stamping Color Dare

This card is made for 2 challenges. Let's hope I get them posted before they close :)
I used this week's sketch over at the Sweetest Thing, and chose the colours from this week's Color Dare. The stamp sets used are Circle Circus and Introducing. I have this real attraction to purple, and when I saw this colour combo I knew I just HAD to try it out. It was a bit more challenging than I thought it would be, but after much second guessing I think it all fell together.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #15

Keep it Simple, Sweetie - that's the name of this week's challenge at Stampin' Royalty. So I decided to go to the perfect source for Clean and Simple layouts - Clean & Simple Stamping. I scrolled through the posts until I found the perfect card by Heather Pulverenti. I cased the card she made, changing up most of the colours on my card. The flower is a rub on from the level 3 hostess set. The flower was too small for this card, so I got out my white signo gel pen and drew another layer of petals around it to make the flower much larger. Then I traced the rub on to make the image look even. The flower was put on Bermuda Bay and mounted on Whisper White cardstock. I added a button in apricot appeal. The crushed curry DSP is from the Welcome Neighbour pack from Saleabration. I stamped the sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stampset in Basic Black.

Easter Treats Scrappin'

Here's a page of my beautiful daughter that I put together using My Digital Studio. I was orginally looking to enter the PPA contest this week which is to use flowers. Once I was on that track I chose my colours from this week's Color Throwdown. Of course once again, I have missed the deadline for Color Throwdown.

DSP Swap

So more cards from my collection for the DSP swap. I made a ton of these cards so that I could stock up on gifts for future events. I really like giving a collection of cards as people are always in need of birthday, sympathy, and thank you cards. The paper is from the Good Neighbour pack from Saleabration. The scallop was made with the Scallop Trim border punch. The ribbon is polka dot grosgrain turned over. All the sentiments are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Another Design Dollies Colour Challenge

This is a card I made for this week's colour challenge over at Design Dollies. The colours for the challenge are Dark Green, Rusty Orange, and Yellow. The colours I chose are Old Olive, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry and I added Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip. I cased a card from Simone Bartrum. You can find her blog here.

Well it's Wednesday, so that means another challenge over at Stampin' Royalty.  This week were looking for St Patricks Day projects.  Make sure you hop on over to Stampin Royalty to see what the design team has come up with.  This card features the Lucky Shamrock stamp which is available as a single stamp in the current Occasions Mini from Stampin Up!

I got a fabulous swap card at Vancouver Regionals designed by Sheila Batty, and I copied the background and rouched ribbon from her design and added the St Patricks Day stamp to finish it off.  Note the soft square in the middle which was stamped using a clear block by itself as a stamp.

2.  Stamps - Elements of Style, Lucky Shamrock
3.  Ink - Old Olive, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede

Bobs and Lolo

During the Olympics several communities had their own celebrations. In North Vancouver, where I live, the local town centre hosted an outdoor venue with a giant screen, food and drink, face painting, and live music. It was a lot of fun. One of our local Children's entertainers (Bobs and Lolo) had a free concert after the pancake breakfast, one Sunday during the Olympics. So I took my kids down. It's hard to see, but in front of the performers is kind of a toddler mosh pit. All the parents stood back and let their kids dance in front of the stage. My kids were too scared to leave me, but we couldn't actually see much of the performace because of all the parents, so we went to the back and listened to the music and danced away. The kids had a lot of fun and these funny pictures are of them dancing to the music.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #14

This week at Stampin' Royalty we have a great colour challenge for you. I started working on this card and then went off in a completely different direction than I was expecting.

First I started by checking out all the DSP that Stampin' Up has, trying to figure out if I could find one that had all 3 colours in it. I found that Tempting Turqouise, and Taken With Teal are so close that it was hard to make them distinctive. Well the day I was making this card, my latest shipment from SU had arrived, and in it was the Pirate Party Pack that I had ordered for my son's upcoming birthday. Well, So Saffron and Taken With Teal were in the pack, so I found the eye patch sticker that had both colours in it.
Next I looked for any DSP (patterned paper) that had Taken with Teal in it. I found this paper in the Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit. When I put the eye patch over this paper, I knew I had my card. The string for the patch came from the Pirate Party Kit. The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment is from the 'Look Who's Turning..." stamp set, and the 'Ahoy Matey' sentiment I wrote myself with a Stampin' Write marker. I think my son will really appreciate this card for his pirate birthday party in a few weeks.

DSP Swap

I made a collection of cards for a DSP swap recently. DSP means Patterned Paper. I decided to use some of my collection Good Neighbour DSP. I cased this card from Becky Roberts over at Inking Idaho. This style of card is agreat way to use up scraps of DSP. The nice thing about using DSP from the same pack is that all the paper coordinates so you can add variety to your cards. The ribbon is polka dot grosgrain turned over, the scallop was made with the Scallop Trim border punch. The sentiments on all these cards are from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Colour Q Challenge #26

I actually had time to sit down today and play along with the Colour Q challenge. I absolutely love purple and green and when I saw this challenge I was immediately drawn in. I just got this stampset and decided that I needed to use it. I really need to get a new camera because the colours just don't show up properly in this photo. I added dazzling diamonds glitter with my tombo glue. The images are from the 'Hello Again' stamp set and the sentiment is from the 'Well Scripted' stampset.

Swaps on Saturday

Here's another great swap I received recently. This is a quilt card. The paper (DSP) is cut out with the 1" square punch and then adhered to another piece of paper. Then the whole thing is run through the Big Shot with the Top Note die. This swap was made by Lisa Jahncke. She made them in various colours but this one in Pretty In Pink is my favourite.

Holiday Fun with MDS

I've decided to use this weekend to try and compete in a few challenges as you will see over the next few days. This top page was created for 'Just Add Ink's challenge this week. Ahhh photo fun with MDS (my digital studio from Stampin' Up!) We were in Palm Springs a few weeks ago and I had NO INTERNET - so I had to console myselft with digital scrapbooking. The photos in these 2 pages were taken with my Blackberry, so the quality isn't that great. These 2 pages were from a designer template pack based on the Simply Scrappin' Kit called Sunny Day. Basically you can add in the photos and be done, but I find that these predesigned pages are also good for giving me a starting point. I added the photos and then decided to jazz up the pages a bit more. So I added in more text - like the title 'hockey'. And more embellishments. (notice the flowers from the Sweet Pea Stiched Felt kit?)

So how did we end up in Phoenix when we went to Palm Springs? Well my parents were already there in California, so we left our kids with them for a night and drove to Phoenix to watch our favourite hockey team (the Vancouver Canucks) play an away game. And let me tell you it was tons of fun. Although our team lost in a shoot out, the arena was half full of Canucks fans. The people beside us had even dyed their hair blue and painted their faces. It was tons of fun.

let the CUTE begin again

Here's another baby card I made for a colleague. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet, so I thought that the brown with the pink made it a bit gender neutral. The DSP is from DCWV and everything else is from SU! This is another accordian card. See my previous post about this here. The stamp is a retired SU stamp from a few years ago from the set Big on Spring.
