Regionals Today!!!

I am soooooooooo excited.  Today is the Vancouver Regional for Stampin' Up!  Above you see photos of some of my swaps.  I was such a keener that I made these swaps and 2 other designs.  This card was inspired by a card made by Jen Sannes.  Click here for her post.  I decided to use brighter colours than Jen, for a completely different look.   These cards were surprisingly time consuming, but very simple to put together, except, for some reason, I had problems getting the ribbon straight.
The Recipe:
1.  Paper - Whisper White, Pear Pizzaz, Concord Crush, Rose Red
2.  Big Shot - Beautiful Wings Embosslit, and Scallop Rectangle Clearlit
3.  Accessories - Concord Crush and Pear Pizzaz 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon,  Basic Rhinestone Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

So Shelli Creative Challenge

This month Shelli Garnder is hosting a challenge on her blog soshelli.com  The challenge is to feature products from the current Sale-a-bration Catalogue.  The set I am featuring is called Punch Bunch and you can earn it free by purchasing $60 in other product.  This set is fantastic as it is made up of images which coordinate perfectly with Stampin' Up! punches.  The Owl and the Welcome Baby Tag are from the set.  I stamped them in Rose Red, punched them out with the coordinating punches and then adhered them to Early Espresso cardstock.  Then I carefully cut around them to make a dark matte for the images.  Of course these images also look fabulous un mounted, but I wanted a little extra 'punch', if you know what I mean. (sorry about the bad pun)

The Fun Stuff:
1.  Paper - Nursery Suite DSP, Whisper White, Early Espresso
2.  Stamps - Punch Bunch, I (heart) Hearts
3.  Punches - Tag Corner, 2 Step Owl, Small Tag, Crop-a-dile
4.  Accessories - Jumbo Eyelets, Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Pretty In Pink 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Organza Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Bring on the Red and White

Here's another page of my little cuties.  We were all gussied up to watch the hockey game on the final day of the Winter Olympics last February.  My kids are such goofballs.  They just could not sit still for a good photo, but kept on making these silly faces.
Those silly hats are supposed to be soft knit versions of hockey helmets.  This page started as a template from My Digital Studio, and then I changed the papers and embellishments to red and white.  And when I saw that Stacey's Stamping Stage had a red and white themed colour challenge, I knew I had my page!

It's Been One Year...

During the Winter Olympics last February, Canada revealed its' often hidden, patriotic pride. We Canadians know that's its' there.  In the next few weeks I'll be displaying the pages I made to remember this exciting time.  Vancouver was an exciting place last year.  I have always been a huge follower of the Winter Olympics, probably because most of my favourite activities are in the Winter Games.  This page was taken right after Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal in overtime of the Men's Ice Hockey Game on the last day of the Winter Games.  We had all gone over to my brother's house to watch the game and to let the kids play.  The kids were excited but I'm not entirely sure that they knew why we were all so excited.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #59

This week's challenge is to use markers on your project.    I decided to use one of my newest sale-a-bration sets called "A Flower For All Seasons" to make a cute set of 3x3 cards.  I stamped them on watercolour paper and then coloured them in with Stampin' Write Markers.  I also used an Aquapainter to blend the colours together.  I punched them out with the 1 3/8" square punch and then matte'd them on coordinating papers.

Colour Q Challenge #72

It's time for another colour challenge at the Colour Q.  I made this digital page using My Digital Studio.  The paper is from the Notable Desktop Calendar paper kit.   It was fairly simple to put this page together once I found the perfect photo of my hubby and my daughter from a few years ago.

Always Elegant

I pulled out my new, free, saleabration set, Always Elegant, and my Big shot to make these cards.  I'm actually really proud of myself, becasue I tried and tried and tried and FINALLY mastered the folded ribbon - at least close enough for me.  I just could not get it, and even the green one is a bit crooked, but I think I'm happy with them now.  To honour that, I decided to make a card (or two) with a vintage feel.  And then I saw that Pals Paper Arts was having a vintage theme this week.  Perfect timing!!!  So to make these cards you will need the Big Shot, the new Fun Flowers Bigz die, the Framed Tulip embossing folder, and the Beatufiul Wings Embosslit.  I also used my modern label punch.  The background is Crumb Cake cardstock run through the big shot and then trimmed and sponged with Crumb Cake ink around the edges to bring out the embossing.  The ribbons are Seam Biding ribbon,.  I ran a strip of sticky tape where I wanted the ribbon and then attached a bit of ribbon, then turned the card and did it again, then turned the card back and did it again...  The flower is Whisper White cardstock, run through with the Fun Flowers die.  I then took the middle sized flower and stamped the flourish image from the Always Elegant set in Crumb Cake Ink.  It took three times to cover the whole flower.  Then all of the flowers were sponged with Crumb Cake.  Next I punched a hold through the entire thing and popped a bit of seam binding ribbon through it to secure it.  I also added a bit of snail so that it was really secure.   Then I played with the edges, I rolled them, and bent them so that the flower no longer lay flat.  I put a few stampin dimensionals on the outer edges and some sticky tape in the middle so when it was secured to the card front, it was a bit raised up.  The mini butterflies were made with the Beautiful Wings embosslit and then attached with glue dots.  The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of whisper white and then punched out with the modern label punch and then attached with glue dots.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #58

This week we have a theme challenge over at Stampin' Royalty.  We'd like to see your projects with HEARTS, HEARTS, HEARTS!!  This card is a hybrid card made with MDS and real life embellishments.  The hearts were made using punches in My Digital Studio.  I filled them in with colour and paper swatches in Cherry Cobbler, Pink Pirouette, and Blushing Bride.  I printed it out on Whisper White cardstock.  Then I trimmed it and put it through the Big Shot with the framed tulips embossing folder.  The ribbon is taffeta ribbon in Basic Gray.  I frayed the end and gathered the ribbon around a middle thread for this effect.  The sentiments are from the Tiny Tags set and, of course, the punch is the tiny tags punch.  I mounted it all on Basic Gray cardstock.

What was I thinking???

This card was amazingly easy to create.  I'm not convinced that Blushing Bride was the right colour for the matte, but...  not much I can do about changing it now.  This card started with the stamp.  Originally I tried to stamp the image on paper sprayed with water - no luck.  Then I tried to spray water on the already inked stamp - no luck again.  So finally I scribbled some zig zag's  of Concord Crush on watercolour paper and then used my Aquapainter to blend it all together.  I really like how the Concord Crush ink separated into purple, blue and pink.  I stamped the Giraffe in Concord Crush on Very Vanilla Cardstock and then carefully cut it out with Kraft scissors.
The Fun Stuff:
1.  Paper -Concord Crush, Very Vanilla, Watercolour Paper, Blushing Bride DSP - a hostess pack
2.  Ink - Concord Crush
3.  Stamps - Animal Stories
4.  Accessories - Stampin  Write Marker, Aqua Painter, Concord Crush 1/2" stiched poly ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Distressing Kit

Stampin Royalty Challenge #57

It's a colour challenge this week at Stampin' Royalty.  I LOVE colour challenges.  But this one was very difficult for me.  I just couldn't figure out an idea for a card.   The colours are very masculine, but I didn't think that the Elegant Soiree DSP (which has all the colours in it) was masculine enough.  But then I got the Desktop Calendar Kit for My Digital Studio and I was set.  This little cutie is my nephew Shayden.  This page was super easy to make.  I followed a previous week's Scrap Sketch over at MyDigitalStuidio.net   You can click the link on my sidebar and join up.  You do NOT need to be a Stampin' Up Demonstrator to join.  And it's a great site to meet people and get great ideas about digital scrapbooking.

Colour Q Challenge #70

It's an even numbered Colour Q challenge so I'm up on the Design Team this week.  I couldn't get away from all this PINK and Teagan's dance class.  SO I made yet another page of my little girly-girl at dance class.  Click here if you want to see her other page.  I matted the photo in all 3 pinks.  I got all the other digital embellishments free off the web.  But I've had them for so long that I can't remember where I found them.  One of the great things about My Digital Studio, is that you can use other companies' products, because, of course, I made this digital page with My Digital Studio.  (MDS)
