Muse Challenge #60

I thought I'd try out this week's challenge over at the MUSE blog.

The rules are that you need to explain your interpretation of the Muse card.

Firstly, I chose my palette from the colours on the card.

I added a bit of vellum, and the banners too like on the Muse card.

And then I paper pierced around the edge to echo the border around the Muse card.

Amber Shaw March Challenge

I am loving these freebies that I picked up this week.  For this page I used this template from Amber Shaw and this kit from Bella Gypsy.

Last week we were in the land of Disney.  We had a fun time.  We were there last year, but this time we went with another family we know, and we felt we had a better handle on how to negotiate the lineups at Disneyland.  Above are some photos of our first day in the Park.  We started in California Adventures and had so much fun.

I totally love Purple and Green so this kit is perfect for me.  I love, love, love the colours in this kit.

Colour Q Challenge #234

Yeah, so here we are in Southern California.  We had a blast in Disneyland last week and now we are in Palm Springs.  Last week was our second visit to Disneyland in 2 years, so it wasn't completely new to the kids, but this year we went with another family, and let the kids have some say in what we did in the park.  Teagan really wanted to visit Tinkerbell in Pixie Hollow.  So 30 minutes in a lineup led to a visit with one of Tink's friends - Fawn, the animal fairy, and then a visit with Tinkerbell herself  Teagan was completely overwhelmed, but loved the experience.  Brad and I managed to take her in alone, because Connor was off with our friends and she not only loved the attention from us, but also the attention from the fairies.  As the journaling explains, after some questioning from the fairies, they decided that Teagan was a "WaterFairy" and judgin from all the time spent in the swimming pool here in Palm Springs - she certainly is.

I used the newest release from Deena Rutter to make this page, and a cool template from Fiddle Dee Dee Designs.

Colour Q Challenge #233

I took this adorable photo of my daughter the other day, and thought it fit in beautifully with Colour Q's challenge this week.

I used the freebie kit from Akizo and tweaked some of the colours a bit.

I also used this cute template freebie from Southern Serenity Designs.

Deena Rutter Speak Bubbles cutting file

Here's my latest creation using the adorable cutting files created by Deena Rutter
For this one, I punched out some butterflies with a SU butterfly punch.

For this one, I drew some added lines around the speech bubbles for more detail.

Here are a few new hybrid cards that I made with Deena's latest release of her Every Little Bit Line.
I added the words "Birthday Girl" with the Freeky Typewriter font.

Colour Q Challenge #232

My daughter's soccer team had their last game this week.  I whipped up some "Thank You" cards for the coaches.  I'll post the rest up in the next few weeks.  This card was for the head coach, and it fit perfectly into the challenge for Colour Q this week.

I used a digital image of a soccer ball that I found online, and the ribbon and paper are from Stampin' Up!

Milk Carton and Votive Tutorial

Hey there everyone. I'm excited to share my first tutorial with you today.
I decided to use Deena's new Milk Carton Gift Box Cutting File and her papers from last month's release Every Little Bit Smitten.
drutter_dcut_milkcarton_box_900previewdrutter_everylittlebit_smitten_paper_900preview
Here's a little tutorial of how I altered her cutting file to create a cute little box with a lid, and also a votive holder using Silhouette Studio.

To be honest, my printer has been acting up, so I decided to use my colour laser, which works best with regular paper, so in order to give some strength to this milk carton, I first cut it out with plain white cardstock, then I attached the printed paper to the outside of the shape and trimmed it up with a craft knife. Below are the final results.

To finish it all up I added some vellum over the 'windows' in the votive, and a nice lacey bow to the box lid.

Colour Q challenge #231

We have a cool, March themed colour challenge for you at the Colour Q this week.
I decided to take this opportunity to scrap this photo of my son and husband in Pink Shirts.
Pink Shirt day is a national day for school children to support the Anti-Bullying campagn in Canada
Seeing as my hubby is a high school teacher, he is also wearing a pink shirt.

I used this free kit from Fanette Design.

And this template from Fiddle-dee-dee Designs on Scrap Orchard.
