Try Stampin On Tuesday #91
My daughter is off to a birthday party tomorrow, so I decided to pull out my Bandstand Simply Scrappin kit and make a card. I used the Blue Ribbon Stamp set in coordinating colours as well.
I decided to try out the sketch over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.
I carefully cut out the scallop circle and punched out the sentiment stamp with the 1 1/4" circle punch and then mounted it on a circle of Daffodil Delight punched out with the 1 3/8" circle punch. I also added a stiched grosgrain ribbon and the paper piercer and mat pack to outline the edge of the card.

Colour Q Challenge #162
It's Tuesday and that means another fabulous challenge over at the Colour Q.
You seriously need to jump over and check out the fabulous talent on the Design Team.
This week the colours are of an Autumn theme.
But I decided that I have been doing a lot of Autumn Art and I don't have any good Autumn photos as it's been pouring rain pretty much all of October.
So I decided to pull out a new template and change it up.
So - voila!
This page was made with the Pinwheels on Parade Template
I just changed up the colour of the embellishments and added a few stamps and text.
Super easy
and
Sooooo Cute
well, maybe that's my motherly side bragging a bit.

Just a little Afternoon Daydream
Today was Teagan's last day of daycare.
It was bittersweet as it has been a wonderful experience for her.
The women who run her daycare are truly exceptional.
I know she will really miss them.
However, she is 5 years old now, and Tuesday she starts Kindergarten.
Both my babies will be at school!!
Anyway, I digress...
I knew that today was the last day to give my gifts to the ladies
So last night I stayed up late to whip up a few cards which I will share with you over the next few days.
This card uses a lot of the Afternoon Daydream Simply Scrappin Kit.

HoHoHo Banner
I made this little banner for my future Sister-in-law. I used a lot of retired product for it. Firstly, the HO HO HO letters and the Snow Felt Flurries are still available on the clearance rack at Stampin' Up! Next, paper and sticker embellishments come from a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit. The ribbon is Real Red Grosgrain. I used the Big Shot and the Scallop Square die to make the squares. I attached the DSP to the chipboard scallop squares with spray adhesive. The rest were attached with sticky strip and Crystal Effects.

Two Peas...
I took this adorable photo recently at Teagan's 3rd birthday party. The little girl who's face is blocked out is my BFF's daughter Anna. Anna is only 2 months younger than Teagan. The two of them are just starting to get old enough to play together and it's adorable. When I pulled out the camera, the 2 of them started making faces together. This page is a premade template in MDS which I added my text to. It's so simple to put these pages together with My Digital Studio.

Practical Scrappers - Eyelet Challenge
I was working on my project for this week's Stampin' Royalty challenge when I pulled out these old layouts that I had started a year ago. I had so many photos from that day at the park, that I pulled out another 2 page layout and added more detail. The eyelets added a lot of puch to each page. I used the jumbo eyelets and evenly spaced them over a strip of Old Olive cardstock. Most of the paper and embellishments came from the now retired Hoppy Memories Simply Scrappin' Kit. The colours used were Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #22
I must apologize for getting this post together late today. I had it all ready in draft form but forgot to publish it last night. Anyway, welcome to Stampin Royalty's Challenge #22. This week the challenge is to "jazz up an old project". As I seem to be drowning in cards these days, I decided to use some old scrapbook pages that I had put together using a Simply Scrappin' Kit. This is is retired, but the images and paper are fully available on My Digital Studio. When I put these pages together I was trying to showcase what you can do with a Simply Scrappin' Kit. When I pulled them out a year later, I had some great ideas on how to add even more to the layout.
The 'before' layout
Below is a close up of the second page, as this was actually a two page layout.
and below this is a photo of the two pages together.
I love how the turquoise really compliments my daughters shirt. There's a children's song by Charlotte Diamond that kept going through my head as I was putting this together. It's called 'Why did I have to have a sister?' I found a nice little spot to include that quote on this layout. I added the photos first and still found the whole thing to be a bit plain. So I peeled off a few images and popped them up on dimensionals - but I still found it a bit plain. So I added a few stickers that were left over from the kit and I put some journaling on them. Then I sat back and decided that it needed a better title. So I used one of the 'love notes' from the last Occasions mini to mount up the letters for 'Explore' which is a fitting title for a day at the playground.

Holiday Fun with MDS
I've decided to use this weekend to try and compete in a few challenges as you will see over the next few days. This top page was created for 'Just Add Ink's challenge this week.
Ahhh photo fun with MDS (my digital studio from Stampin' Up!) We were in Palm Springs a few weeks ago and I had NO INTERNET - so I had to console myselft with digital scrapbooking. The photos in these 2 pages were taken with my Blackberry, so the quality isn't that great. These 2 pages were from a designer template pack based on the Simply Scrappin' Kit called Sunny Day. Basically you can add in the photos and be done, but I find that these predesigned pages are also good for giving me a starting point. I added the photos and then decided to jazz up the pages a bit more. So I added in more text - like the title 'hockey'. And more embellishments. (notice the flowers from the Sweet Pea Stiched Felt kit?)
So how did we end up in Phoenix when we went to Palm Springs? Well my parents were already there in California, so we left our kids with them for a night and drove to Phoenix to watch our favourite hockey team (the Vancouver Canucks) play an away game. And let me tell you it was tons of fun. Although our team lost in a shoot out, the arena was half full of Canucks fans. The people beside us had even dyed their hair blue and painted their faces. It was tons of fun.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #11
Wow - did I have a lot of fun making this card. Now, I have to be honest, although I created this sketch, I don't actually remember the source of my inspiration. So when I went back to make a card, I was really stumped at first. But once I pulled out my Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit, I found my inspiration. I flipped the sketch. I pulled out the oval label and deciced to use it as my starting point. I used my Extra Large Fancy Flower punch to create the scallops around it. I cut each punch out like in the photo belowThen I attached them to the bottom side of the oval as in the picture below.

Little Cutie
So as a bragging mother, I need to show off my beautiful daughter. When I got this picture from my Father-in-law, I knew I needed to scrap it. This photo is from Christmas, but it just seemed more appropriate to scrap it with the Sunny Day kit. I also used MDS (My Digital Studio) in case you can't tell. This kit is soooooo cute and girly. I based this page on one I did quite a while back for my son.Saturday, January 9, 2010

Scrappin With Real Paper!

So one of the wonderful perks of being a SU demonstrator is access to all kinds of deals. About a month ago, SU started their Inventory Blowout. It was immediately available to Demonstrators. I bought this Simply Scrappin kit (retired almost 2 years ago) for $9.95 CDN. It was a great savings. And I've always missed these retired In Colors. Anyway, I put this page together in a snap!

Sunshine Garden in Palm Springs
Boy am I sad to see that the Simply Scrappin' Kit Sunshine Garden is gone. It was on the Last Chance List and now it's sold out. I'm really happy that I stocked up though, and I will be able to offer this layout in an upcoming class. This particular layout is from our trip to Palm Springs. It was super easy to make. I just cropped al the photos the same size and laid them down on a piece of 12 x12 DSP and then made sure the borders were even, and glued them down and cropped the paper. Then I decided that the top right corner needed "something" so I enlarged the picture of myself and Teagan and cropped it to only show the fantastic smile on her face. The flowers are all stickers from the kit and I popped them up with dimensionals. The rhinestone stickers in the flowers are from Mike's.Paper: Sunshine Garden and Sale-a-bration DSP. Baja Breeze Accesories: Stickers from Sunshine Garden bulk buy, and ribbon from Sale-a-bration.
