Stampin Royalty Challenge #126

Has it really been 126 challenges?  It just kinda hit me today that we've been doing this for over 2 years.  Wow.  Time flies sometimes eh?

But I digress...

Happens alot these days I think...

ANYWAY!

This week we have a timely challenge for you over at Stampin' Royalty.
Hop on over and check out the awesome samples created by the design team.

This week the challenge is to create something

MASCULINE

So I decided to get an early start on a few Father's Day cards.

Both my hubby and my dad are really great at building things.
My dad was a carpenter before he retired,
and hubby and I flipped 3 other houses before we moved here last year.
And after all the mess with the flood last December - we're never moving again.
I mean it.
Especially as we're going to finish up my dream Crafting room this summer.

But here I go again.

Focus, Sandra, Focus...

OK, I would up with two cards for the two "Fathers" in my life.

I don't have the background stamp "TOOL SHED" in real life, but I have the DIGITAL version.

I cut out the hammer and popped it up on dimensionals.  I cut the long strips of dimensionals from the side parts of the dimensionals.  You know, the funny long strips that are left after you use up all the dimensionals on the paper. You can kinda see them peeking out from underneath the hammer in the photo above.
I mounted the hammer on on of the die cuts from the new Apothecary Labels Framelits.  I also emobssed it with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder.
Then I mounted it on Early Espresso cardstock and then carefully cut it out to help it stand out against the background.
I

I created the sentiment in MDS as well, and then cut it out with a different label from the Apothecary Labels set.  Again I mounted it on Early Espresso and carefully cut it out by hand.  And then I put it on Old Olive and repeated the last step for a multi layered matte.

OK, now card number two took me a while.  I just couldn't figure out what to do with the sentiments.

I finally cut out the Happy Father's Day with the same framelit as in the last card, and then I used my paper cutter to trim off the top and bottom.  And then I mounted it on Early Espresso and carefully cut it out by hand again.  I did the same with the HANDYMAN sentiment, only I used one of the Bitty Banners Framelits for that.

I used another die cut from the Apothecary Labels set.  The same die cut as in the first card, and I even embossed it again with the textured impressions folder.
I cut it in half to frame out this card, but it still didn't look right.
So I grabbed my retiring Crop-a-Dile and some retired grommets, and put a few eyelets in.

I think it worked out quite nicely.

What do you think????

Colour Q Challenge #139

Oh I'm late with this post today.  It' totally slipped my mind.
Life's been a bit crazy at home lately,
Here's why...

Isn't he toooooo cute for words?
He's 8 weeks old.
We call him Artoo
Which is from Star Wars if you're curious.

Connor has been practicing his "pirate" and calling him
AARRRGGGHHH-too!

Anyway, on to this week's Colour Q.
I used tons of stuff from the new Fan Fair template which is my latest favourite.
These photos are taken with my iphone.  We had a family photo shoot for my parent's 50th anniversary, and I guess by the time I pulled out my phone, Teagan had had ENOUGH of the smiling.

So CUTE!!

Oh yeah, proud momma here.  I took these photos of my littie cutie Teagan, last week at the T-Ball field.  After trying so hard to get her to smile on the weekend (upcoming Colour Q page for that one) it was so nice to get some genuine smiles from her.  What you can't see in the photos is that she's riding on a teeter-totter at the playground.  She's such an adrenaline junkie (kinda like her mom)

One of these days I'm going to get more cutie photos of my son I tell you.

I used some upcoming product for this page.  This is a new kit called Fan Fair.  There's a digital kit, and a real-life paper, stamps, and embellishment suite.  I can't wait for June 1st, I tell you.

This paper is going to be perfect for our trip to Europe this summer.  Don't worry, I'll have tons of upcoming pages about that trip.  I'm bringing my laptop and MDS with me!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #125

Welcome to Wednesday!
That means another challenge for you at Stampin' Royalty!
This week we have my favourite type of challenge - a COLOUR CHALLENGE!

Last summer, Brad's brother Ryan married my good friend Susan.
I'm sure you've noticed many photos from that day here on my blog.
They are all taken by the wonderful photographer Lee Halliday.

But anyway...
I love, love, love this photo.
Lee did a bit of photoshopping on it for added effect, but the
perspective is fabulous.  And when I popped it in this layout from the new
photobook kit, Fan Fair, I knew it would be a hit.
I changed up the colours a bit and and added the title and
that's it. - I love using photobook kits to start my pages.

Colour Q Challenge #138

It's tuesday, time for another cool colour challenge over at the Colour Q.

I made this adorable page using my digital studio and some of the newest downloads.
I found this layout in the Keep This Memory digital kit and I changed up some of the papers and colours to fit the challenge - super easy and oh so cute (well...   I am a little biased about how cute my kids are )

Polka Dots????? Say WHAT??

Yeah, sorry about the wierd title.  I'm in a funny mood.  :)
I've made 6 cards and a scrapbook page this past 24 hours.
My head is spinning.

I made this card to fit in two challenges.
The Paper Players has a Polka Dot Recipe Challenge
And Pals Paper Arts has a sketch challenge.

So I combined them both.

This card has a bit of a story behind it.
I was cleaning up my scrapping / dining room tonight after my creative flurry.
And, well, I'm sure most of you know that Stampin' Up! is coming out
with a new catalogue at the end of the month.

And, that means new In Colors.

This card is made out of the retiring In Colors.

I am really, really, really going to miss this palette.
Concord Crush has got to be my most favourite SU colour EVER!!!

And sometimes,

just sometimes,

Sometimes, In Colours come back to be part of the regular colour families.
Remember how Baja Breeze and Riding Hood Red started out??
So here's hoping that some of these colours return some day.

ESPECIALLY

Concord Crush.

Emboss Resist - Sneak Peek!

I've been stampin' up a STORM.
I believe that my MOJO has returned. - yippeee!
I'm starting to work on some Display Stamper projects for Convention which need to be done soon, but I can't post those projects yet, and I can't let all that MOJO go to waste.  So I've been allowing myself to create some cards for Challenges as well.  This ADORABLE set is a new hostess set called "A Cherry On Top"

Here's the inside of the card - too cute right???
I really love this little glass dome, and thought that the Emobss Resist challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments was perfect.  I usually hate pulling out my heat gun, but once I had embossing powder everywhere (for a display project) I decided - why not???  And here we are.

Heartfelt and Deconstructed

Today I pulled out some of my new goodies and also
some of my favourite paper.  I will really, really, really miss Attic Boutique.
I followed this week's Deconstructed Sketch for this card.

This stamp set is from the new catalogue.  It's called Layered Labels
It has matching framelits but I decided not to use them.

And check out the seam binding ribbon in Daffodil Delight.
I gathered one edge to make it easy to create a border around the oval.

I did some colouring in with my stampin write markers.

Here's the finished card..  The hearts were puched out with the Hearts Framelits.
I love how the largest one is a scalloped heart.

A Cute Sneak Peek

My son has a birthday party to go to next week, so I decided to pull out some of my
new goodies and get stampin'!!!
I actually dusted off this adorable set called "I DIG YOU", that I bought last year
and NEVER used.  I couldn't believe it!
Check out the photo below.  You can tip back the dumptruck to reveal another sentiment.

This paper is a new DSP from the upcoming catalogue.  It's called Comfort Cafe.
I love how masculine it feels.
I pulled out some of the colours from the paper to complete the card.
Which meant I got to ink up my new In Colours and try out the new ink pads.
The truck is made from Midnight Muse (blue), Summer Starfruit (yellow) and
Soft Suede (brown).
I have mixed feelings about these new pads.  I wound up with blue ink all over my hands.
It's really dark and rich, but much messier than the old pads.

Oh yeah, and the sentiment on the front of the card was punched out using one of the newest framelits called Bitty Banners - too cute right?  And check out those buttons.
They are the new Designer Naturals buttons which are made to look
like real wood.  (but I think they are plastic - shhh)

On the inside I stamped a few images from the set "Bring on the Cake"

Stampin Royalty Challenge #124 and a sneak peek

Here's a sneak peek at a new kit in the upcoming catalogue called Fan Fair.  I went into the photobook template and changed up a few colours, added the daffodils and the title and of course, the photo.   Voila!

This week at Stampin' Royalty we have a fabulous photo inspiration challenge for you.  Below is the photo.

I have to admit that I found this challenge to be, well, challenging.
The colours were too bright for what I had in mind to scrap.
But once I pulled out this photo of Brad's Mom and his brother
I knew I had to scrap it for Mother's Day.
Hop on over to Stampin' Royalty and check out the fabulous work by the design team.  Please join us.  We'd love to see your take on this photo!

Colour Q #137

Here's a beautiful Colour Combo over at Colour Q this week.
I just LOVE purple and green.  So this was a snap for me.
I found this adorable photo of my kids on my phone and decided to scrap it with these colours.
Hop on over to Colour Q and join in the fun!

Retro Sketches and a Sneek Peek!!

I've been meaning to play along with Arielle's sketch challenge blog - Retro Sketches.

As well, this colour combo fits perfectly with the current colour challenge at the Paper Players.

I used some of my new sneak peek goodies from SU.   The new stamp set is called "Layered Labels" and the new dies are from the "Apothecary Label" set.

I also took the opportunity to use us some of my soon-to-be retired DSP.
I will miss this paper.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!!

I'm entering this card in the Paper Players colour challenge this week!

I've been dying to get back to entering challenges.  I've been soooooo busy.

I made this card for my MIL for Mother's Day - today!!
I CASE'd a fabulous card from Mary Fish and changed up a few colours.

The flower was made using the petal punch.
I creased the middle of each petal with my Simply Scored and folded them for added dimension.
