Just Add Ink #171

I was looking for a nice and simple sketch to play along with today and I found it over at Just Add Ink.

That flower image is a cool rub on from a kit I just bought from My Mind's Eye.
The Patterned paper on this card is from that kit too.

The sentiment and ribbon are from Stampin' Up!

Let's Get Sketchy Week 4

These photos are from our family day last weekend.  My son was being a total goof at the bowling alley.  He asked me to take a photo of just his eyes and I jazzed it up with Instagram.

I've joined up again at Let's Get Sketchy.  Here's this week's sketch.

I used this kit from Mye De Leon at Pixels and Co.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a Bingo card in this embellishment pack
And then it just seemed to fall into place.

Thanks for stopping by...

Colour Q #195

Well we have a cute little combo over at the Colour Q this week.  I went to work with My Digital Studio to create this little page.  Brad took this amazing photo of the Sistine Chapel last summer.  When you go into the chapel, they forbid photos, but then people walk around taking tons of photos without a flash.  One guy even lay down on his back in front of us and took a few pictures.  The guards just make a token effort to remind people not to take pictures.   And you aren't supposed to talk, but there was a distinctive hum of voices from the few hundred people in there with us at the time.  Needless to say, Brad took a few shots and this one is my favourite.  Plus, the colours on the ceiling really work with this challenge.  I was also feeling a bit cheeky when I came up with the title.  :)

Just Smashin' It!!!

A few days ago, Teagan dragged out her scrapbook which Santa had brought.
It's a Hello Kitty Journal (Smashbook style)
It inspired Connor, so the 3 of us went shopping for a Smash Book for Connor.
And, I just couldn't help myself, so I got one for me too.

So today we had a family day.  We went out for brunch and then bowling as it was rainy.
I pulled out my phone and took a few goofy pictures.
After editing them with Instagram, I added them to my Smash Book.
Fun right??   And super, duper, easy.
OK it's not hang on my wall perfect, but it's going to be a great memory from this summer.

Above is Connor's Smash Book.  He carefully pulled the stickers off the plastic cover and then taped them onto the chipboard cover using WashiTape.
Then he cut the plastic so that he can still reach his pen.

Here's a picture I took of him yesterday.  He cut it out and added it to his book.
I am offering absolutely NO guidance.  I want my kids to scrap their own ideas.
And I'm so happy with what he's doing.

He wanted to fill this page out so badly but didn't know what to write in his top ten.
After I suggested a few topics (favourite sports, favourite games etc...) he chose to do his top 10 colours.  Notice, he decided to add orange at the bottom, and changed it to 11 colours.

I gave him a few flower die cuts and a mini muffin cup liner, and he made this flower, sticking it together with a brad.  Then he decided to colour in the sky because he thought the flower wasn't standing out clearly enough against the background.

Here's Teagan.  I took this photo of her yesterday when she was working in her Smash Book.
You can see my ink pads in the background.
I snapped the photo and quickly printed it out for her.
She took the photo and added it to this page.

And I thought I should share this page from a few months ago.
With Connor so excited about this, she has been caught up and is also very interested in adding to her book.  I figure this will be a great summer activity for the kids and I.

A Few Chalenges Today...

Well, things are finally winding down around here.
Summer holidays begin next weekend, and team sports have come to an end for my kids.
My daughter got really sick at school yesterday with a high fever and had us all worried last night.
But after a bit of Tylenol and a few hours sleep her fever broke.
And this morning she woke up bouncing and giggling.
But I decided to keep her home with me today, so we had a girly day in my craft room.
She worked in her Hello Kitty Smashbook and I made a few cards.

I came up with this card.  I used  a few embossing folders on some patterned paper.
Then I sanded them down to bring out the white core.
I stamped the sentiment and cut it out with the paper trimmer and some craft scissors.

I added this lace ribbon and a little flower.
The flower was originally a coral colour and I sponged it with orange to help it match the challenge colours.

I've entered this card in the sketch challenge at Seize the Birthday,
and the colour challenge over at The Play Date Café.

Here it is in all its glory.
I just couldn't get the colours in the photo right.
That chartreuse coloured patterned paper looks much yellower in real life.
It's from K&Co.
The background green is from Crate Paper.
The lacy ribbon is from my stash and everything else is from Stampin' Up!

Let's Get Sketchy Week 3 June 2013

I tried out another great sketch from Let's Get Sketchy this week.

Here's the sketch.  I pulled out some photos of Brad and I last April at a playoff hockey game.
And I tried to make it a bit funky by tilting the photos.

I used parts of this compilation kit from Pixels & Co called "The Good Life"

Colour Q Challenge #194

This week we have a great combo over at the Colour Q.  I really like this combo, and I found this challenge worked really well with my children's baseball photos.  Below is an example of the two page layout.

Here's a few closeups of each page.  Here's my son!

And my daughter...

I used the Feelin' Peppy Digital kit from Just Jaimee at Pixels and Co.

And the Storyteller Alphas from DBK over at Scrap Orchard.

A Few Cards To Share

I made these cards a few months back when I decided to drop Stampin' Up!
This paper is from Crate Paper.
I used a variety of punches and framelits to create these balloons.

I also embossed the backgrounds with a few different embossing folders.

Then I sponged the edges to add some dimension.

For the Teacher part 2

Here's another card I made for my children's teachers.
I used a lot of retired Stampin' Up! product.

The Storyteller paper was perfect for this.

I added a few vintage trinkets.

And a few of these flowers from the kit in the last mini.
Here's the complete card.  I am really enjoying collages these days.

Let's Get Sketchy Week 2

So I tried out another sketch at Let's Get Sketchy.  This week it's a multi photo layout.  I had all these photos of the very rainy parade we were in a few weeks back.  At least the kids had fun, and we saw a lot of familiar faces from the parade route.

Here's this weeks sketch.  Hop on over to Let's Get Sketchy to check it out.

And the kit I used was
'It's a Good Life'  from Just Jaimee
from over at Pixels and Co.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #180

So this week we have a Colour Challenge for you over at Stampin' Royalty.
I created these little banners by altering the flag punch to give it a little swagger.
Plus I have these adorable photos of my kids riding ponies at the school fair last weekend.

OK I just love the colours this week at Colour Q.  I pulled out these cute photos of my daughter in her red Tball uniform and went to work.

I used the sketch from Let's Get Sketchy for my layout as well.

I pulled out this kit from Pixels and Co and altered a few of the colours to match the challenge.

Let's Get Sketchy June 2013

So I thought I'd try out some digital scrapbooking with sketches from Let's Get Sketchy.
Check out these great shots of my son.  You can actually see the baseball in the second photo.

I used this great kit called 'Storyteller' which I downloaded from Scrap Orchard for free.

Here's the sketch.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #179 and Sketchabilities #92

Over at Stampin' Royalty we have a theme challenge this week.

We'd like to see projects with a focus on the themes around

MASCULINE or DADS

So I took this opportunity to scrap this cute photo of my family taken last summer when we were in Italy.  I used the aptly named "Bon Voyage" kit for My Digital Studio.

I also used this great sketch from Sketchabilities

Hop on over and check out that fantastic site.
