Stampin' Royalty Challenge #52

This week we have a scrapbooking challenge over at Stampin Royalty. Click here to go there and see what all the fabulous Stampin' Godesses have created for you. For myself, I decided to make a page with all the holiday photos that we received from our friends this year. I have covered up the children's faces in order to obscure their identity. Originally I had placed circles over their faces, but then I realized that my watermark does a pretty good job of it too. If you scroll down to the very bottom of this post you will find that photo.

So in order to make this page, I used the backing from the chipboard Ho Ho Ho that is available on the Clearance Rack over at Stampin' Up! Then I made a collage of the photos. Then I attached the whole thing to a 12x12 piece of real red cardstock. The title was added using My Digital Studio. I printed it out on photo paper, and I think my printer did a pretty good job matching up the colours. The red ribbons used on this are retired, and the holly and berries came from my local crafting store.

Here's the page I originally wanted to use, but changed my mind. It gives you a good sense of the entire layout though.

Colour Q DT Entries

Here are my official DT Entries for Colour Q. The challenge was to make 2 pages using 2 past colour combos. Both of these pages are hybrid pages which means I used a combination of digital and traditional scrapbooking to come up with these. As I said yesterday, the nice thing about the digital scrapbooking is that it ensures that everything is perfectly lined up and there's no cutting or pasting involved. For this page below I came up with the photo array, and then gave each photo a border of Tangerine Tango. The background is Night of Navy with the flourish stamped in Soft Suede for the background. The journaling says "There's only one word to describe the feeling of my favourite sport..." and then the title of the page is BLISS. Bliss is a digital stamp set which includes the baroque flourish on the background and will be available during Saleabration. The entire digital panel was printed out on photo paper and then mounted on a background of Tempting Turquoise and then mounted on some textured Soft Suede cardstock. I sponged the edges to give it a more worn look, but then decided to add a few stamped images from the Gratuitous Graffitti background stamp. The flowers were created using 2 different sets. Printed Petals which is available now, and Build a Blossom which will be available in the upcoming Occasions Mini. I added a few buttons and half pearls to finish it all up.

Happy Boxing Day! Now that Christmas is over, there are tons of photos to be scrapped. This layout is a hybrid. That means I used a combination of digital scrapbooking and traditional papercrafting to make this page. The photo, and all the layers it is mounted on were done digitally with MDS. I didn't have any christmas paper that worked with this photo, and I wanted to stick to the colour challenge below, so I decided to make my own. One little tip is that if you do all the photo mounting digitally, you can centre every piece exactly so that it's perfect. The title was made from chipboard which I inked up with real red ink, and the tree was made using current and retired SU buttons. The final touch was adding the bands of ribbon to the bottom.

Fun With My Stash

Every once in a while I wander into my local scrapbooking store. The one thing that is really frustrating about SU is that you need to wait for your supplies to be mailed to you. So sometimes I need some instant gratification. I found this cute paper at my local store, and then could not figure out how to use it last year. So this year, when I was working my way through my retired SU papers, I came across this paper and voila! I came up with the following set of cards. The flurries and rhinestones are Stampin' Up!

Stampin Royalty Challenge #51

It's Wednesday which means we have another challenge over at Stampin' Royalty. This week it's a sketch challenge. I couldn't wait to pull out some new product from the upcoming Occasions Mini and Saleabration 2011. I just loooooove this new Create a Cupcake punch and stamp set. and the Botanical Gazette paper is simply fabulous. I flipped the sketch to get a mirrored image.

Here are a few cards I've been making with retired product.

HoHoHo Banner

I made this little banner for my future Sister-in-law. I used a lot of retired product for it. Firstly, the HO HO HO letters and the Snow Felt Flurries are still available on the clearance rack at Stampin' Up! Next, paper and sticker embellishments come from a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit. The ribbon is Real Red Grosgrain. I used the Big Shot and the Scallop Square die to make the squares. I attached the DSP to the chipboard scallop squares with spray adhesive. The rest were attached with sticky strip and Crystal Effects.

These cute little cards are hybrids. Check out yesterdays post for another version. I cased this card here from Tara Bilabo. Click here to see her original card. First I created the digital images below and then printed them out. Next I coloured in the "stamped" images.

Next I cut out the images and then mounted it on Always Artichoke cardstock. Then I popped them up on dimensionals. I added some satin bashful blue ribbon and cherry cobbler buttons to finish it off.

Merry Christmas Hybrid

Next I cut out the images and then mounted it on cherry cobbler cardstock. Then I popped them up on dimensionals. I added some satin old olive ribbon and cherry cobbler buttons to finish it off. Tomorrow I'll post another version of these cards.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #50

Wow - has it really been 50 weeks since we started Stampin' Royalty? This week's challenge is

Bring on the Bling!

Click here to see the wonderful samples made by the design team. I decided to pull out some Ho Ho Ho chipboard that I got on the Clearance Rack. It's still available now. I used 3 of the small 'ho ho ho's" to create 3 shadowboxes and My Digital studio to help. I also made a 4th shadowbox to even out the number. The first photo is of the box I posted up on Stampin Royalty. The background was created with My Digital Studio, and the Patterned paper is Concord Crush DSP. Next I attached the H and O and then punched out a few snowflakes from Whisper White paper. Then I added Silver Shine glitter to a few of them with a two way glue pen. All of the backgrounds were created with My Digital studio. I stamped the images digitally and then reduced the opacity so that they appear lighter in colour. Some of the paper and snowflakes are made with Perfect Plum, but mostly I used Concord Crush.

Thanks for Mojo

I finally had time to sit down and play with my new toys from Stampin' Up! I decided to try them out on the latest Mojo Monday sketch. I took my new Botanical Gazette patterned paper and ran it through the big shot with the latest Framed Tulips textured impressions embossing folder. Next I sanded it down to reveal the white inner of the paper. Then I used my distressing tools to rough up the edges. I trimmed down another page of the same patterned paper and stamped it with the Thanks sentiment and then sponged the edges with Early Espresso. The ribbon is the new Seam Binding Ribbon in Crumb Cake, and the leaves were punched out of Old Olive cardstock with the two step bird punch. The flower was made using the new Build a Blossom stamp set and Blossom Petals Punch. I sponged the edges of the flowers for more dimension. Finally I added a few Basic Pearls to finish off the sketch. This card was really fun to make.

I was so excited to receive my pre-order for Sale-a-bration. This year they have Digital Images for MDS in the package. Of course I included this in my pre-order. So above is a page made with the Ice Cream Parlour kit. You can also get real live copies of all of these paper, accessories and stamps. I really love this little kit. And it's nice to get a break from Christmas cards right now.

Stampin Royalty Challenge #49

This week is a theme challenge over at Stampin' Royalty. We'd love to see projects with a Winter Holiday theme. Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanza, Whatever...
So first I made a few Christmas cards. These are hybrid cards. I started by printing out digital copies of the Deck the Halls DSP (patterned paper). Next I printed out images from Cardinal Christmas and Bells and Boughs Digital Brush sets. The sentiment is from Cardinal Christmas as well. I printed them all out on Whisper White cardstock. Then I used blender pens and stamp pads to fill in the images. The backgrounds were made from Whisper White cardstock which was put through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice textured impressions folder. Then I sponged on River Rock ink around the edges and put some extra on the corners. Then I distressed the edges. Then I sponged the edges again. Next I used the Colour Spritzer tool to add colour to the middle. I then took the coloured in images and mounted them on 2 layers of cardstock. Then I realized that I should have done something with the edges, so I used the Colour Spritzer tool to add more colour to it to and 'age' it. I'm trying for the vintage look here, but somehow I'm not so sure I pulled it off very well, it's not my typical style. On both cards I used the Scallop Trim border punch and added ribbon to finish it off. The cardinal card has a ribbon tied with silver thread. The bottom card uses a brad from the Hodgepodge Hardware to finish it off.

Season's Greetings Wreath

I cased this holiday card from Janaria on MyDigitalStudio.net Click here for a link to the page. The base of the wreath is a scallop circle filled with patterned paper and then a circle punch layered over to create the hole in the centre of the wreath. Then I layered many patterned paper circles and buttons over it.

Tree Cutting

Last weekend was the annual Farrell Family trip to cut down our Christmas Tree. We go out every year as an extended family and each household cuts down their own tree. First the whole clan met for brunch (My In-Laws, Brad's Brother's family and Brad's Sister's family including all our nephews, and us.) Then we all piled into our various vehicles and drove to the Tree Farms. We went to Frosty's Tree Farm and it was decorated with all kinds of inflatable characters. The kids enjoyed running around and playing with them. Next week trekked out on the field and chose our tree and Brad cut it down. Finally we enjoyed Hot Chocolate around a campfire to warm up our cold toes.

So this page was made using My Digital Studio. I used the Candy Cane Kit. This kit includes paper, stamps and embellishments. The Title was made using the Letters Stamps and the Ribbon is Red Satin Ribbon

Stampin Royalty Challenge #48

This week we have a colour challenge over at Stampin' Royalty. I decided to feature Marina Mist in my card as it's my favourite colour in the challenge. I pulled out my Razzle Dazzle stamp set which I haven't used in a long time. I actually stamped it in Versa Mark and then used the Stampin' Pastels and a sponge dauber to 'ink up' the image. It's hard to tell in the photo, but the white is matte'd on Rich Razzleberry cardstock and the button is also Rich Razz.
